We love it when we are able to quickly move from survey to solutions in our work to improve town centres. Take for example, Abergele in Conwy, North Wales.
Our Spring survey and subsequent ‘Heart of Our Town’ report on the High Street and wider social and economic issues provided a focus for our engagement with the business community. It also gave Conwy Council the evidence to pursue its Placemaking Plan for the town and invite us back to partner Chris Jones Regeneration and Macgregor Smith, Landscape Architects in exploring practical solutions.
Our role has been in leading specialist community engagement and in building local capacity amongst business and community groups. It has been very satisfying working as part of a team with the ability to understand how to positively shape the look and feel of town.
Six months it is rewarding to move from survey to solutions as we are about to assist Chris Jones in presenting comprehensive proposals for improving Abergele town centre, aided by inspiring design work by Vince Nevin from Macgregor Smith. Meanwhile businesses and community groups are coming together under our guidance to play an active role in developing and hopefully delivering ‘quick win’ projects in the town.
