After the attractive riverside town of Upton Upon Severn was hit by severe floods in 2013, the Town Partnership worked with Malvern Hills District Council to help businesses bounce back. The People and Places Benchmarking process was used to highlight the town’s many strengths including its array of independent shops, attractive environment and potential for tourists. It also identified challenges including the need to better orientate first-time visitors between the towns attractions and more peripheral shopping streets.
People and Places were brought in again to work with some of the Town Partnership’s leading members to carry-out a signage and access audit of Upton. This involved taking a first-time visitors’ perspective on the town, its’ attractions and how to use its parking locations, signage and intrinsic features to better guide visitors around the town.
