The People & Places Partnership is working with Proximity Futures on behalf of North Tyneside Council to guide the short-term recovery and revitalisation of Fish Quay over the longer-term. Surveys seeking local stakeholders’ views
Working on behalf of North Tyneside Council and in association with the local Business Chamber, People & Places are conducting stakeholder surveys of local town centre businesses and customers. The survey findings will be used to decide future priorities that help local people and businesses get more out of their town centre. The findings will be discussed widely with local community groups and businesses as part of deciding future priorities for the town centre..
The local business survey received 44 detailed responses. The Fish Quay users’ survey will remain open for responses until Monday April 12th.
Recovery to revitalisation of Fish Quay

Complementing the North Shields masterplan
This ongoing recovery and revitalisation work seeks to complement and add to bold proposals already identified in the North Shields master plan approved by North Tyneside Council in January 2021. The masterplan recognises the unique challenges and opportunities facing North Shields and Fush Quay. It aims to transform the town centre and riverside into an environment where people choose to live, work and spend their leisure time.
There are a number of different long-term projects included as part of the master plan, including :
- Riverside Embankment walkway
- Relocation of the Shields ferry landing
